Helpful Hints to Prepare your Entries

Baked Goods

Appearance is very important. Do your best to submit baked goods that look appealing. Uniform size and shape is very important. The judges will taste every entry, so texture and flavor are important, too. Bake as close to the Fair date as possible to ensure freshness!

Vegetables and Fruit

Appearance and color are very important. Strive to submit entries that are firm and fresh, i.e. of excellent “market quality”. Uniform size and shape are very important. The judges will be the only people to handle the exhibits, carefully checking for bruises and blemishes. Pick the fruit or vegetables as close to the Fair date as possible to ensure freshness.

Flowers

Appearance is very important. Try to submit blossoms of uniform size and development, stems of similar length and with good quality leaves. If a leaf has a hole in it, carefully remove it by pulling it off down the stem, or carefully cutting it off with a knife blade. Submit what the exhibit requires. Pick the flowers as close to the Fair date as possible to ensure freshness!
